How Location is important for Hosting
The physical location of your web hosting server is as important as other factors that you consider while selecting a hosting service provider. This is particularly important when you are looking for optimal SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
Technically, search engine results are country specific. So when you want to target your search to an audience in a specific geographic location, the search results are maximized if the site is hosted in the same area. The search engine results are more favorable to those sites which are physically located and hosted within that specific location. For example, if your site is hosted in UK, a search engine may show different results if same content is searched outside UK, or in Australia, or anywhere else.
Location of hosting server is also important depending on your business objective. If you are selling a product, or you offer services that need more user interaction within a specific geographic area around you, it is advisable that your site’s IP address should be within that country’s IP address range. The search engines use IP addresses of computers to identify the location of searching sources.
However, if your target audience is at some far off location across the continents, you should get your site hosted in that geographic area. Though it is an expensive option, it ensures that the site is locally available to the users, leading to better SEO results.
Another scenario can be that you want to reach global audience and your business extends over multiple locations, across different countries. In such cases, your sites should be available in different languages and you should get it hosted at multiple locations. It enables users across different locations to get access to your site in their own language, which is a massive advantage to your business.
