Elements of Shared Hosting Plans
Shared hosting is the most popular form of web hosting at present. The service places more than one site on the hard drive of a web server which allows the hosting company to maximize their technological resources and lower costs to their customers. The plans have several aspects that should be considered.
The storage size is the first concern. The least expensive plans usually run between 3 and 10 GB of storage for a site. For the vast majority of sites, this is more than adequate and, in reality, more than those sites will ever use. Your site should be as compact as possible to allow quick loading, so space is generally not too great a concern.
If you’re considering shared hosting, you’re likely not an IT professional. Make certain the company offers good technical support for their shared hosting plans. Any technical support should be available 24 hours per day.
Bandwidth will be another concern, though usually not as pressing a concern as it is for very large sites. Bandwidth is simply a measure, usually in gigabytes, of how much data your visitors can download in any given month. Unless you stream media from your site, the minimum bandwidth allowed by an appropriately sized plan will generally be more than enough.
Make sure you do have a way to add interactive elements to your site, such as feedback forms, surveys and so forth. Likely, you’ll be able to do so using a web interface.
