Basic Requirements for a Webhost
Not all webhosting firms are created equal. Some use state-of-the-art facilities, the most advanced equipment and a staff of very knowledgeable technicians to provide their customers with excellent service. Others cut costs wherever possible, are not reliable and do little more than provide a place to upload files and collect subscription payments from their clients. Every site owner deserves good service.
Most webhosting firms will offer some information about their facilities on their website. The most important things to look for are uptime, tech support, hosting plan options and the actual nature of their facilities.
You’ll want a host that offers at least 99% uptime. This is not at all demanding. Most professional firms can meet this requirement. You’ll also want to make certain that their facilities are climate-controlled and that their equipment is cutting-edge. Servers are sensitive devices; not only do they improve with every generation, they require facilities that protect them from environmental hazards.
Make sure the firm as adequate technical support people who are available around the clock. Smart designers know that it’s best to upload files overnight. This allows them shorter tech support queues if they should encounter a problem.
If you feel like the firm isn’t as professional as they should be, look elsewhere. There are so many webhosts on line that there is no reason to compromise or ignore your instincts. Both large and small firms are capable of offering excellent value for your money and you have every right to expect as much.
